'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith continues contest with City.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he recalls the thrilling dying seconds of Swansea's stunning fightback triumph against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The game wrapped up with Galbraith temporarily wearing a spectator's eyewear after the pitch-side pile-on.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith struck the post with a long-range strike from distance, and his teammate immediately slammed home the rebound before racing off toward the East Stand to revel in the moment, with supporters swarming the players.

Stunning Reversal

The victory completed an incredible turnaround given the team had trailed 2-0 deep into the latter period. During the euphoria, there was some unintended consequences. He shared, "There was a fan sort of calling out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were puzzled: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're people, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

The victory booked a fourth-round game at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, a team Galbraith ran close at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with the London side in February. Galbraith had a prime vantage point when his former team took the lead in spectacular fashion, with a teammate's long-range effort from about way out going in via the crossbar and the City goalkeeper. Many argued that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've given it to him for attempting the shot from that range," stated Galbraith, who began the game centrally before shifting to right wing-back after Orient changed shape. That meant getting to grips with Jack Grealish, with whom he traded tops, and the attacker was among the Manchester squad who praised the way his former team attacked the game.

City's Quality

"Athletically they are very good but even the simple things and routine actions, they can just perform consistently," Galbraith says. "It seems as if they always find their target and they know how to manage and take the sting out of a game. You can believe you're holding your own and then without warning they will just thread a ball through a line without you even noticing. You have to be switched on at all times of the game. It takes a tough attitude and attention just to stay in the game."

Swansea Move

The club pushed to sign Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to sign him in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He established himself as a fans' favourite across a couple of years at his former club and has swiftly done the same in Wales. At his previous team he linked up again with his former manager, who earlier gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in senior football on loan at Doncaster from Old Trafford. Then came a temporary move at League Two Salford, before he permanently left Manchester United.

Growth Journey

"I was probably a bit naive going into men's football. I think numerous professionals would say under-23s football is entirely separate. Sometimes it seems the ball is moved without real physicality. You see few physical contests. Once you start playing professional matches you have to adapt rapidly."

International Recognition

His progress reflects that maturation for his team and nation, performing well for the Green and White Army, who could still reach the global tournament next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has been selected in the last several matches, including home and away fixtures against a football powerhouse. The ex-coach, Galbraith's previous international manager, paid him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he controls possession and his eye for a decisive through ball.

Starting Out

This represents an incredible journey for the player from the local area in the Belfast suburb, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who was raised observing his father, Stuart, also a engine room operator, play for a local club.

Red Devils Debut

His single match for the Red Devils came in Central Asia in 2019, a European competition trip to the host city, where they featured on an plastic turf and the stadium roof was shut owing to the weather of bitter cold. "This represented a long trip and it was chilly," he says, smiling. "The week before, several youth players and I trained together, so that assisted our preparation. Just to travel with the first team and make an appearance at the end was incredible."

Departing Old Trafford

How hard was it to depart Manchester United, the club he transferred from aged his mid-teens? "It was fairly simple, because I got to the stage where I understood I couldn't establish myself at the top level. I'm very appreciative for the experience gained but it became apparent where I thought I had to take a different path, move to a lower level and play men's football. Now I'm slowly working my way back up."

Life in Swansea

This occurs during the middle of the day at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has somewhere to be at the early evening: a learner's exam, another step towards getting on the road. Until recently to the local area, the mid-twenties player was a constant rider in Swansea's dubbed fun bus, a minibus driven by team personnel, the drivers, which ferries players to and from training and matches.

"It's myself Gonçalo Franco, Ronald, the midfielder – a former passenger used to be in it but has started driving. It's enjoyable to spend time with the teammates but I'm aiming to be the following person to stop using the bus and driving. His teammate likes to pull a few pranks; he's constantly causing mischief."

Fan Interactions

During his time at Orient, Galbraith would travel alongside followers on public transport after starting his journey at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
